“Quinta do Conde” vineyards are situated 45 km up north of Lisbon, in Alenquer, a region where the wine tradition is centuries old, with beautiful and typical rural landscapes. They cover an area of approximately 130 ha of a total area of 192 ha. The vineyards are planted in gentle slopes with altitudes between 100 and 220 meters, taking advantage of an excellent sun exposition and a climate slightly tempered by the nearby Atlantic Ocean, 26 km away from the property. This is one of the richest wine regions due to the different types of soils and climate.
The fresh summer nights and the mild winter allow the production of quality grapes. The sea breeze contributes to the production of wines with a pleasant acidity and unique regional character. The soils are mainly clay and limestone from the Superior Jurassic period and numerous examples of fossils have been found.
Since 1991 the company has been replanting the vineyards, resulting in a larger grape diversity, with both national and international varieties. This multi-grape strategy is a key factor, providing more flexibility and creativity to the company in the production of its wines, allowing it to adapt to the fast change of market trends. The white and rosé wines are aromatic, revealing freshness and mineralize. The reds are fruity and well-balanced, showing smooth tannins and good concentration.
